Extension Goals

These are the current goals of UF/IFAS Extension and the Extension Administration Office.

Statewide Goals & Focus Areas

The following represent UF/IFAS Extension's statewide goals and focus areas for 2004 - 2007.

Goal I. Agriculture & Food Systems

To maintain and enhance agricultural and food systems.

  1. Agricultural Profitability and the Sustainable Use of Environmental Resources

To maintain and enhance Florida's environment.

  1. Water Resources
  2. Conservation and Sustainable Use of Freshwater and Terestrial Natural Resources and Ecosystems

  4. Conservation and Sustainable Use of Coastal and Marine Natural Resources and Ecosystems

Goal III. Youth Development

To develop responsible and productive youth through 4-H and other youth programs.

  1. Life Skills Developed in Youth through Subject Matter Experiences
  2. Organizational Strategies and Learning Environments to Support Youth Programs
  3. Volunteer Development and Systems to Support Youth

Goal IV. Florida-friendly Landscapes

To create and maintain Florida-friendly landscapes--the smart way to grow.

Focus Areas

  1. Commercial Horticulture / Urban Forestry Services
  2. Residential Landscapes including Florida Yards and Neighborhoods (FYN)

Goal V. Individual & Family Development

To assist individuals and families to achieve economic well-being and life quality.

  3. Nutrition, Food Safety, and Health
  4. Housing and Environment
  5. Nonprofit Organizations, Leadership, and Volunteer Development

Goal VI. Healthy Communities

To maintain, enhance, and establish healthy communities.

Goal VII. Professional Development

To promote professional development activities designed to enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

Extension Administration Goals

The following represent UF/IFAS Extension Administration's goals for 2007 - 2008.

  1. Improve internal and external communications
