Biography

As the Dean and Director for the Florida Extension Service, Dr. Larry Arrington manages the overall program, sets priorities, evaluates programs, and allocates resources. The Florida Extension Service is supported by both UF/IFAS and Florida A&M University. Dr. Arrington reports to the Senior Vice President for Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Dr. Arrington works closely with Extension faculty and administrators to manage the partnership of federal, state, and county governments that form the Extension system in Florida. The University of Florida extension programs are conducted through eighteen academic departments, thirteen research education centers, and sixty-seven county offices.

Larry Arrington grew up in Plant City, Florida, where he was active in 4-H and FFA. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Florida; M.Ed. from the University of Georgia; and Ph.D. from Ohio State University. Dr. Arrington came to UF in 1981 as a faculty member in Agricultural Education and Communication. He served as the District Extension Director for District I from 1991 to 1997. He was appointed Associate Dean for Extension in 1997 and has served as Dean since 2003.
