Biography

Dr. Nayda Torres is the Chair for the Department of Family, Youth and Community Sciences and Program Leader for Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Programs. She provides administrative support and leadership for all statewide programs related to family relations, child development, family resource management, nutrition and health, food safety, family housing, community development, leadership, entrepreneurship education, and workforce preparation.

Dr. Torres works closely with Extension Specialists through Focus Teams and other organization units to encourage progressive and timely delivery of research-based education to various user groups. Prior to being a Department Chair and coming to the Extension Administration office, Dr. Torres was an Extension Family and Consumer Economics Specialist in the Department of Family, Youth and Community Sciences. Dr. Torres came to the University of Florida in 1985.
