International Activities

Global reach to address Florida’s challenges through international perspectives is one of the core values that form the foundation of UF/IFAS Extension. UF/IFAS Extension faculty may gain valuable experience and knowledge about agricultural, horticultural, natural resources management, resiliency of coastal communities, community resources development, family and consumer sciences, community health management, and leadership and youth development practices, technologies, and innovations from around the world. This knowledge can then be applied to benefit our stakeholders and communities, natural resources, and environment in Florida, ultimately serving Floridians with integrity and excellence.

In order for any international activity to be successful, you must follow the proper timeline and receive the necessary approvals.

  1. Discuss activity with your direct supervisor and begin approval process as soon as you decide to participate in international activity.
  2. Review the UF International Travel Acknowledgment of UF Directives/Policies
  3. Register with UF International Center
  4. Gather all of your information and submit the International Activity Proposal
    • Be transparent with all arrangements, including any personal travel that may be included.
  5. Once your international activity is approved, you are encouraged to take the next appropriate steps such as:
    • In UFGO register your assets.
    • TR will be routed through RISC for approval.
    • Include Approved Proposal as attachment as part of the TR.

Please refer to the guidelines and procedures below. If you have any questions, please reach out to Keith Gouin, keithg@ufl.edu
