 FANREP Conference Travel Scholarship

To apply: Please complete the following Scholarship Application and include an abstract and/or 250 word summary of how attending the conference would benefit you or your program.  Submit your application Packet via email to:  Armando Ubeda aubeda@ufl.edu or Michael Sipos sipos624@ufl.edu.

*Maximum scholarship funding is $300; one award per year per awardee.

Application Cycle Due Dates: Jan 15, March 15, June 15 and Sept 15

To be reviewed within each cycle period, applications must be received at least one week prior to nearest cycle due date. Applicants will receive notification before or on the corresponding cycle due date depending on when the application is received.

Please note that if you are granted funds for travel, you will be required to write up a brief summary of your experience for the next FANREP newsletter following your event. Award recipient will be required to submit a report to FANREP Board after conference. Scholarship funds are disbursed to the awardee post event, proof of attendance is required to receive your reimbursement.  Should a scholarship be paid in advance and the recipient cannot attend the conference, scholarship must be reimbursed to FANREP within 30 days.

The Steve A. Gaul Master Naturalist Program/ FANREP Memorial

Steve Gaul served as the Natural Resources and Agriculture Extension Agent in Nassau County for six years. He was a regular instructor of the Florida Master Naturalist Program (FMNP) and thoroughly enjoyed teaching others about Florida’s natural environments. Steven was also an active member of the Florida Association of Natural Resource Extension Professionals (FANREP), and briefly served as its president before his untimely death in 2012.

To honor his memory FANREP and the Florida Master Naturalist Program jointly established this scholarship to provide a Florida educator the opportunity to participate in the Florida Master Naturalist Program and expand his/her appreciation and knowledge of Florida’s natural environments

Scholarship Details

Amount: $275 to cover the cost of taking one of the core modules of the Florida Master Naturalist Program (uplands, freshwater, coastal).  Scholarship funds are disbursed to the awardee post event, proof of attendance is required to receive your reimbursement.

Who can apply? Any Florida formal or informal educator (participants must be affiliated with an organized educational organization).

Duration: The recipient will have one year from the time he/she receives the scholarship to participate in the FMNP course.

Procedure: Eligible applicants should write no more than one page (up to 500 words) stating why they are interested in taking the Florida Master Naturalist Program, how they plan to use what they learn, and how they or thier program would benefit from this opportunity.

Donations are being accepted in Steve's honor and will be used to support additional Florida Master Naturalist Program scholarships.
