What is FAMACHA?

FAMACHA (FAffa MAlan CHArt) is a selective treatment method used to manage barber pole worm (Haemonchus contortus) infections in sheep and goats. It involves assessing the level of anemia in an animal by examining the color of the mucous membranes inside the lower eyelid and comparing it to a color chart. This helps determine which animals are most likely infected and require deworming, reducing the overall use of anthelmintics (dewormers).
